Newquay Primary Academy is a brand new school. We opened the doors to our new school building in 2025.
We are proudly part of the Cornwall Education Learning Trust and share a site with Newquay Tretherras secondary school. This means that, from Reception through to Sixth Form, our learning community shares an approach to education which focuses on achieving excellence and ensuring that each child achieves their potential.

Save the date - NPA Sports Day We're excited to let you know that our Sports Day will take place on Friday 19th June (weather permitting!). We'll confirm by 8am on the day via email and Tapestry whether the event will go ahead. If the weather isn't on our side, we have a back-up date of Friday 26th June. This year, Sports Day will be held at Tretherras Playing Field (opposite the academy). Joshua, Tamar and Severn Classes will take part in the morning, with Trent and Shannon Classes competing in the afternoon. Children who are not taking part at that time will remain in school and will swap over at lunchtime ready for their events. We would love to invite families and friends to join us back at NPA for a relaxed picnic in between the two sessions. Please bring a rug or something to sit on. The kitchen will be offering a picnic option of sausage rolls, veg sticks and fruit for children, this can be ordered using the form on a letter that Mrs Townley sent out yesterday to all parents/carers. Please also book a meal on ParentPay as normal so that, in the event of bad weather, we have accurate numbers for a hot dinner in school (on this occasion we can refund if meals are not taken). As always, this is a nut-free event. Our PTA will also be selling refreshments throughout the day (card and cash accepted) On the day, please drop your child off at school as usual. Children should come dressed in their PE kit (with suitable trainers or pumps), and bring a hat, suncream and a water bottle. Long hair should be tied back and jewellery removed. We will walk to Tretherras in time for a 10:00am start. Morning events (EYFS & KS1) will run from approximately 10:00am – 11:30am, and afternoon events (KS2) from 1:00pm – 2:30pm. Please note: You are very welcome to take photos of your own children, but please avoid sharing images online that include other children. Please also note that smoking or drinking alcohol is not permitted on the grounds. We're looking forward to a fantastic day and hope you can join us

This week in art club we finished our cardboard faces inspired by the artist Picasso. We cut abstract shapes to make the facial features, before using our fancy new acrylic markers to add lots of colour and pattern. I think you'll all agree they look totally amazing ! What a talented bunch of artists I am lucky to teach! Mrs Hughes

Take a look at the fantastic new additions to our academy library! A huge thank you to Boardmasters for the funding that helped us purchase our wonderful new furniture, and to our superb PTA for their hard work in securing funding through an NPA bid. We can't wait for our learners to discover our revamped library and enjoy their exciting new surroundings!

This afternoon, Shannon class learnt about different states ( Solids, Liquids and Gases). We learnt about the presentation of the particles in each of these and headed to the hall to recreate them in a class group. The children had lots of fun (in particular when they became a solid) and were able to transfer this learning to the rest of their science lesson.

This afternoon, Shannon Class had the opportunity to take part in the Big Future Survey to represent NPA. They carefully considered their answers and provided valuable insights into what it is like to be a child in today's world. Their thoughtful contributions reflected their experiences, perspectives, and hopes for the future. We are very proud of the maturity and engagement they showed throughout the survey. The Children's Commissioner for England, Dame Rachel de Souza, has launched The Big Future survey to hear directly from children and young people about their lives, hopes, worries and ideas for the future The survey is open to children and young people aged 0–18 and can be completed with support from parents/carers where needed. There are also accessible options available for children and young people with SEND It only takes around 5 minutes to complete! This is a chance for children and young people's voices to help shape future decisions and influence Government thinking Take part here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/TheBigFuture/ Find out more here: https://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/the-big-future/ Closing date: October 2026

This week Joshua class have been inspired by the story ' The fish who could wish' In adventure time they challenged themselves to make Fish tangrams, using their careful cutting skills to cut the shapes. They also thought about what a wish for a fish may look like and used junk modelling materials to create their own wish. In play dough island they had fun creating their own sea creatures, and this afternoon outside they used watercolours to paint fish and sea creatures. What a busy, fun first day back after half term!

Elmer Day at NPA! On Friday 22nd May, just before half term, NPA celebrated Elmer Day, a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate diversity, inclusion, and everything that makes us unique. Across the school, classes took part in a range of exciting activities focused on understanding and appreciating our differences. We shared discussions about what makes each of us special and why our individuality should be celebrated. Trent and Shannon Classes worked together to create their very own giant Elmer! After learning about diversity and inclusion, pupils designed colourful patches that were brought together to create a fantastic collaborative piece of artwork, showing how our differences make something truly amazing when combined. Tamar Class celebrated Elmer Day by talking about what makes us all different and special, and why it is good to be unique. The children enjoyed reading Elmer stories, designed their own colourful Elmers, and wrote thoughtful sentences explaining what makes each of them special and unique. Severn Class spent time exploring the meaning behind Elmer Day and discussing why diversity and inclusion are so important. Through thoughtful conversations, the children reflected on the many things that make us different, including our interests, talents, appearances and personalities. They shared their ideas respectfully and recognised that our differences help make our school community a welcoming and special place for everyone. Joshua Class also enjoyed celebrating Elmer Day. The children listened to the Elmer story, discussed inclusion and diversity, wrote sentences describing Elmer, and designed their own colourful elephants. They all looked fantastic and embraced the spirit of the day with enthusiasm and creativity. It was a wonderful day filled with learning, creativity, teamwork, and celebration. We are so proud of all our pupils for recognising that our differences are what make us special.
