Beach school

JULY 10, 2023

Last week both Joshua class and Tamar class walked down to Porth Beach for some rock pooling, dam building and general adventuring. We are so lucky to have such fantastic beaches like this on our doorstep and we love getting out to explore.

Joshua Class soggy super heroes!

Joshua class cleaned the beach, played games and built sand castles. Then the children did an epic rock pool adventure. Many marine creatures were found, but the highlight was definitely a star fish!

Compass skills

JULY 6, 2023

Tamar class have busy been learning how to use a compass.

They started out by practicing using a compass in the orchard. Then, they used basic compass directions (North, East, South, West) and directional language to direct their partner through a maze.

The children finished off by giving compass directions and directional instructions to their partner so they could programme the bee-bot.

Monday’s Learning

JULY 4, 2023

Joshua class have been super busy continuing their pirate themed learning, they are also getting ready to meet a very special person on Friday. Sarah Outen MBE was the first and youngest woman to row the Atlantic Ocean solo.

In November 2015, Sarah Outen completed her London2London:Via the World expedition: a mammoth attempt to row, cycle and kayak 25, 000 miles around the Northern Hemisphere. The journey took 4.5 years and was all the richer for not turning out exactly as planned.

Joshua class have written some thoughtful questions to ask Sarah. They also labelled pirate ships, made parrots, filled treasure chests and then programmed beebots to find their treasure. The children also made sail boats and counted out the real treasure we found at Pirate School on Friday.
